I've been a user of Protechtor Elite Air cases (now by Gator) for years. This is the 3rd case I've bought for snare drums, and I use these cases for all my drums. They do a great job protecting the drums, and those foam interior pads stay put. Having said this, I only have a couple of minor issues. I don't like how Gator has limited the color choice to black only. I live in Texas, and the summers here can be brutal, and black cases absorb heat which I know isn't good for snare drums, particularly wood snares. I have two older sets of these cases in red granite and grey granite which works great, and they're not as hot during summers. In this instance, I got a metal snare, so I settled for the black, but had it been wooden, I probably would have chosen something else. My other minor issues with these cases, you can stand them up on their two feet as I call them, but they are not always the most stable. If they're bumped, they can easily fall over or even roll a bit. Not that the drum inside is harmed in any way. None of my drums have ever been messed up inside these cases. Again, they are very durable, and they do last a long time. My final minor issue has to do with drum stacking. Yes, the Air Elites can be stacked on top of each other, and they will stay overall, but they are not near as stable nor do they lock into place. This is mainly an issue when it comes to moving drums on a rolling cart to the stage. They have to be held steady; otherwise, they can fall over which has happened to me on several occasions. I wish Gator would address this with a redesign where cases can be more locked into place, so they don't slide off when you happen to be on an incline while moving them. Having said this, I still like how they fully protect the drum, and I appreciate their use of interior foam pads more verses a fully foam lined case which in my experience, those can degrade over time and leave sticky foam residue on drums which is no fun to remove.
