Perfect snare head

The Ambassador, is, in my opinion, the best snare drum head that I have found. I have tried the pinstripe, emperor, ebony, etc. at various times, just trying to find that "perfect" snap and tone for my snare, and until I purchased this, had just about given up. This is the only head that goes on my snare. Very warm, with nice overtones, and a great punch make this the perfect head for many different styles of music. I wear many of them out, but I have yet to break one outright, and I hit fairly hard during most of my playing. If you are like me, and are having trouble finding the sound you need out of your snare, give this bad boy a try.

okay sound, terrible durability

I tried out an ambassador x head on my snare and was not that impressed. Has a warmer, punchier sound vs the original ambassador. Does not have that nice crack either. Only played it for about a week now and it already has a bare spot worn into the middle. Remo really needs to improve the durability of the coating on these heads. Go with an Evans Genera dry, BEST snare head on the market!

Single ply Ambassador's are single-ply 10-mil. This Ambassador X has a little bit eXtra because it is a single-ply 12-mil.

Great sound out of this head on my snare. I really don't notice the artifacts others have written about.

if you are looking for that great clean, deep and punchy tones for your toms and floor toms this is it. After using emperor coated heads for a long time I made the switch to the ambassador x coated and I am very pleased with the tone that I get on my ludwig classic maple.

I bought these because I wanted to try something new. I originally had these on my set at home, three toms and snare. My set is in a small room in my basement. They sounded pretty good, but weren't what I was looking for, so I switched back to my Pinstripes. I put them on the toms in my church (which is obviously more open than a small room in a basement) and they sound perfect. Fantastic tone, amazing resonance, and they are of perfect volume. I don't even need mics on these. With all this said, I would suggest using them in a more open area. Also, people have said they aren't durable, which can't be further from the truth, because I play metal and rock on my drums at home, so they took a beating.
