these are made for high humidity climates. Living and playing in Florida they last much longer than regular reeds. I've been using them for years

  • No better reed for doubling on multiple horns.

As a saxophonist that plays multiple instruments, these reeds couldn't be better. They are always ready to play right out of the box and consistent after the instrument has been sitting on its stand awhile. With straight cane the reeds will dry out during a performance, so when you go to reach for that soprano sax it may tend to be a bit squeaky. The plastic coating applied keeps the reed in an optimal condition. On the flip side, you can't really reshape the reed with tools to improve the tone of the reed or you will scrape off the plastic coating defeating the whole purpose. If you're going for the best sound from a reed you may want to get something else, but for situations where you need the horn to play without having to warm up - this is ideal. Use it in marching band or in a multi-instrument thing like I do. You will not be disappointed.

Rico Plasticover reeds are great. But, I haven't gotten my full order and there's little communication on Guitar Center's part. I ordered 4 boxes and received 1 box. After writing, I did get a response that the other reeds are back-ordered---but no word since then. Still waiting. I'm a professional musician and this is messing me up. I'm just lucky I'm not on the road this month. That would have been a real mess. Danny Ray
