I was happy with the look and sound of the instrument. My student seems to like playing on it so no complaints.

I purchased this violin for my daughter (14) as a first time instrument. She loves dragons and i did not want to invest too heavily into a first violin in case she decided not to stick with her instrument choice. So, this seemed perfect. It's a pretty violin but even to the complete novices eye it is very cheaply made with new, not aged, cheap roughly finished wood. The bow was unusable as the curve of the stick was almost all the way at the tip and quite sharp. So, we went to a local music shop to purchase a new bow and to have the violin tuned as it was so far out of tune that the fine tuners were not doing anything, and we felt nervous to tune using the pegs. The violin kept it's tune for about 4 hours and was once again unplayable! At this point I was ready to send it back! Before doing so I went to a luthier to purchase a proper musical instrument my daughter could actually learn to play on. The luthier asked to see the Dragon Spirit violin, I was frankly embarrassed to show it to him but did so anyway. His assessment was as follows; the strings are too thin and cutting into the bridge, the bridge was cut at an angle and unfinished so slid out of place continuously thus preventing the instrument from staying in tune and due to the poor crafting of the bridge the instrument could not produce a proper sound. The end peg hole was drilled at an angle so the peg was not straight and pulling out, also adding to the tuning issues. The chin rest kept popping off because the holes for the clamp where not cut correctly and could not hold it in place and he remarked that the wood used for the violin was completely new and not aged at all and of poor quality. This is why the strings are thinner then should be as the neck would shatter if normal sized strings where used. Being an incredibly talented luthier he proceeded to fix and to correct the issues listed above (not the wood and strings of course). Several hours of work and a new chin rest later it is now playable.
