Description
The Sabian AAX Thin Ride Cymbal offers a bright, articulate tone with shimmering highs and a brilliant finish. Musicians seeking a responsive ride cymbal with crisp definition will appreciate the AAX Thin Ride's ability to cut through any intrument mix. Sabian crafted this 21" cymbal from B20 bronze, hammering it to an ultrathin weight for maximum responsiveness and sustain. The brilliant finish amplifies the AAX Thin Ride's harmonic richness and clarity.
Ultrathin Weight Provides Sensitive Response
At just 1.6 mm thick, the AAX Thin Ride Cymbal responds immediately to a musician's lightest touch. Its ultrathin construct allows it to vibrate freely, producing shimmering highs and a glassy sustain. The thin profile also helps the AAX Thin Ride cut through dense musical textures. For drummers and percussionists seeking an articulate ride cymbal, the AAX Thin Ride delivers crisp definition and sensitivity.
Brilliant Finish Enhances Bright, Complex Tone
Sabian polished the AAX Thin Ride to a brilliant finish, which helps bring out the cymbal's harmonically rich tones. The brilliant finish amplifies the shimmering high frequencies and glassy sustain. It also helps the thin ride cut through live mixes, allowing its articulate voice to be heard. For those who prefer traditional ride cymbals with darker, more complex tones, the brilliant finish enhances the AAX Thin Ride's tonal qualities.
Versatile Cymbal Pairs Well With Various Music Genres
While thin in profile, the AAX Thin Ride produces a full range of tones from shimmering highs to a warm, low pitch. This versatile tonal spectrum makes the AAX Thin Ride suitable for numerous music genres from jazz to rock. Its bright, articulate voice also works well for live performance or recording. Drummers can rely on the AAX Thin Ride as a highly responsive, expressive instrument in any musical situation.

Great versatile ride!

I bought this to use for jazz and also as a crash/ride for pop/punk. It's awesome for both. It's very dark sounding for an AAX, and crashes very nicely. The bell and ping are decent, but for the real heavy ride sound I'd look more to the AAX Heavy or AA rock ride. I'd compare this to a Zildjian A sweet ride, but darker. Love it.
Solid crash, mediocre ride

By all means, this is a great cymbal. However make sure you are aware of its applications. This doesn't make a good rock ride, but it makes a good rock crash. This makes a great, bright jazz ride, but not a great jazz crash. It's explosive but not overpowering.
