SABIAN

collapse expand iconDescription

The large raw bell of the Sabian AAX X-Plosion Ride boosts the crashability factor of this balanced ride. Combined with X-Plosion's sustain-enhancing process, this adds up to a cymbal that's equally at home performing light ride or heavy crash duty.

Added this 18" to complete a full set of AAX crashes (19" Metal, 16" Stage, and this) and 20" Xplosion ride, along with various effect cymbals, and I could not be happier. It's not as heavy as my metal crash, but is still very loud and cuts with no problem. It's significantly heavier and louder than my stage crash, but can still be played more gently while maintaining an amazing sound. So it found a perfect space for my setup replacing the last B8 remaining in my set. This cymbal is outstanding for literally any type of music.

I bought the 20" xplosion ride about a month ago, and had to make a conscious decision to hold off on writing a review until I had plenty of hours playing it, just so I wasn't making a snap judgment on it. But now that I have plenty of time with it... Best ride I've owned in 25 years of playing. The first thing I was looking for over my 20" AA medium ride was a more pronounced bell. The bell is big, and cuts like crazy even through the heaviest metal. Despite how heavy the cymbal itself is, it has a very nice ping to it for lighter jazz applications, and can be crashed on. It literally can be anything you want. I can't imagine finding a ride I will like as much as this one. Great job as always, Sabian.

I played one of these at my local Guitar Center. In my opinion this is the best cymbal in the world. You can play it like a ping ride and it has a perfect sounding bell that will cut through anything. Then you can crash it like a 20" or 21" crash cymbal....Unbelievable fantastic sound, just perfect in every way. I'm in love with the AAX X-Plosion cymbal. Best cymbal ever made!!

BEST ride I've ever owned. In my opinion, it's far superior to the Sweet Ride (I've owned one for a long time) and gives off the best crash and a beautiful, washy ride, and the bell cuts GREAT.
