The sound is very heavy metal. Just go to youtube and listen to just about ant video of it. These things are amazing. I paired mine with triple shots for the variety.

I use Duncan's in half my stuff. Emg in other half. Don't know if it was the guitar or the pickups but this set just didn't work for me.

Truth told, I'm a rock player - these pickups weren't really designed for 'my thing'. I am trying a bunch of pickups so I decided to try these out. Duncan makes some fantastic pickups - I have several different ones and I love them. These pickups are specifically designed for crystal clear high gain metal tones, and they deliver that. They also sound cool - and nicely different - clean. If you want to hear every string with a high gain amp, this is your pickup. That fact makes them a little metallic sounding to my ears. Having said that, I'm not a metal guy, and I don't have a metal amp. But that sound is actually really cool. They are extremely well made, like all Duncans. Don't let my opinion stop you from trying them if you are into Djent, Metal or Grunge. They excel at that type of music - that's just not my bag.
These pickups aren't just for metal

I installed these pickups in my old music man after switching out all the old electronics, after a day of soldering these babies sung through the amp so freaking good. Great for leads, monstrous bridge sound with distortion. I love how these pickups sound aggressive without sacrificing tone. 10/10 would buy again

These pickups sound crystal clear, making them great for heavy gain or distortion. If you're using a great distortion pedal, there's no muddiness at all, and even when heavily distorted you can hear each note clearly. I really love these pickups and I use them live and for recording. Not only are they fantastic distorted, but because these pickups are so clear, they sound fantastic clean too. I've been using these in the neck and bridge of my guitars for two years now and they haven't let me down.

Will this pick up fit in the Traveler guitar, model EG-1 studio?
Physically: The Black Winter neck pickup will not fit into the EG-1 Studio without routing a new cavity in the guitar for a neck pickup — a significant and invasive modification. Electronically: The EG-1 is not wired for a second pickup either, so additional electronics work would be required.submitted2 years ago

I don't know. You need to know how to wire it. It's not designed that way.
