Seymour Duncan

collapse expand iconDescription

The Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB Model Bridge Humbucker Pickup is a rock icon delivering aggressive and articulate tone for over 40 years. The SH-4 uses a balanced coil configuration to produce harmonically rich, high-output sound with ideal sustain and distortion. From searing leads to chunky rhythm, the JB Model handles it all.

High Output and High Definition

The SH-4 JB Model is a hot pickup, pushing amps to distort and sing, but it never sacrifices clarity or nuance. Notes have definition and chime, and chords have a crispness that lets complex voicings shine through. The low end is tight and powerful, the highs have snap and sizzle, and the mids are focused and vocal. This is a pickup for players who want their tone to have impact and intensity, but also dimension and detail.

Legendary Versatility

While the JB Model excels at hard rock and metal, its tonal range is vast. Back off the gain and volume, and warm, sweet cleans emerge. The pickup's articulate nature provides note separation even at lower distortions, ideal for blues leads and crunchy classic rock. Paired with the right amp or overdrive pedal, the SH-4 can do twangy country rhythm and searing fusion leads. Any player in search of a bold, responsive humbucker will find their needs met by this Seymour Duncan mainstay.

Roadworthy and Sonic

The SH-4 JB Model is built for tone and built to last. Handmade in Seymour Duncan's California factory, it features an alnico 5 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate and a 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options like series, parallel and split coil. Vacuum wax potting locks in the pickup's balanced coils to prevent unwanted noise and microphonics. Guitarists have relied on the roadworthy JB Model for decades of gigging and recording, making it a proven choice for any guitarist wanting a hardworking, professional-grade humbucker.

I bought a brand new Fender Strat HSS from guitar center and after a year of playing it I decided to upgrade my humbucker pickup. This Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB pickup was exactly what I was looking for, and was super easy to install. My Strat completely changed in tone and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get an extra kick out of their guitar! #sweepstakes

I use Seymour Duncan JB pickups in both of my main stage guitars. The sounds that I can get out of a JB range from metal to grunge rock. JBs have an easily recognizable signature sound. These pickups are fairly hot. Overall a very versatile pickup for many types of music.

I bought this for my squire stratocaster and installed it at the bridge. With a little modification to the pick guard fits nicely. Love the tone. Planning on maybe replacing the other two and seeing how that sounds.

I heard this Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB Model Bridge Humbucker Pickup Black can be bought at a single pickup, meaning the humbler is crammed into a single coil. Is this available that way?

Yes, Seymour Duncan offers a single-coil-sized version of their renowned SH-4 JB humbucker called the JB Jr.™. This pickup is designed to fit into standard Stratocaster-style single-coil slots without any need for body modification, providing the high-output tone of the original JB in a compact form factor
