Silvertone 1303/U2 Reissue Solidbody Electric Guitar Silverburst

Having had and still have several guitars (Gibsons being my go to) I have to say that I was happily surprised by the quality and playability which was top. knotch. Very satisfied with this guitar and would not hesitate to recommend this guitar

Purchased gloss black version on sale plus 20% off coupon. Made in Indonesia. Its solid built and arrived well set up. A few minor issues - loose volume/tone knob (easily fixed with a allen wrench) and a few frets near body were a little sharp - a nail file removed any edges. The bridge saddle screws are long which makes resting your hand on bridge slightly uncomfortable. Some of the plate and bridge screws required tightening. All were minor issues. The solid mahogony body is very resonant unplugged, the rosewood neck is fitted tightly in the pocket with no visible gaps or movement. Frets are well seated and level. I am not a fan of the small twin neck mounting plate design but the pocket is deep and everything feels very solid and stable. Access above the 17th fret is reachable but is limted by the body cut. The Kluson style 3+3 turners work fine and guitar arrived nearly in tune and no tuning issues since being adjusted. The low output Alnico lipstick pickups capture the vintage chime perfectly and growl as expected with overdrive. The bridge is similar to a Fender Toronado and the polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin nut is well cut. The volume/tone pots are concentric full size Alpha 500K, wiring and soldering are clean and neat and the cavity has shielded paint. Be aware that the silver model has a different bridge design and the string through body holes are not offset compared to the black gloss model so the silver may be a newer version. The Silvertone is a great entry into lipstick pickups and costs less than a reissue plywood hollow Dano 56' U2. At this price point (sale+coupon), the guitar is a 4.5 stars and really a great bargain.

While at Guitar Center, this guitar caught my eye. Simple. Uncluttered with countless knobs and switches and tremelo bar, etc. So I picked it up and as soon as I wrapped my fret hand around the neck I was in love. Great tone, lightweight and such pleasure to fret. Great tones and sustain!

Purchased in March 2022 from Guitar Center in Southfield, MI. I went in with a bit of an itch - I wanted something that sounded different than my Strat, so I went looking for something twangy like a LP Junior or a Tele... also needed to be under $500. I played 20 guitars... some I set down immediately due to feel, others were nice but didn't jive. The Silvertone 1303 was the 20th guitar I played and easily the best feeling and sounding. I realize that's subjective, but the quality of construction is arguably better than Fender (Mex) and Epiphone. The neck was set up PERFECTLY and the frets were perfect. My only issue with this guitar is the quality of the tuners... they are not great and will go out of tune between playing sessions and occasionally with large bends; otherwise, the electronics, pickups, bridge, etc. are all excellent quality. I recommend checking this guitar out - it really blew me away and is an excellent value.
