I have a Fender Squire Jazz bass which serves me well as I am learning the instrument/ I kno MM basses have a good reputation so my question is: is it worth paying for a MM bass as an upgrade given some of the pricing is similar to the Fender Squire basses or do I need to be looking at circa $2k+ models?
You say your Squire serves you well. That being the case I wouldn't automatically recommend a MIM Fender. They're basically the same. And when you upgrade ask yourself what you are upgrading from and what do you want to upgrade to. You don't need to consider $2K+ instrument. Nobody "needs" an instrument at that price.
