I have three Sires now. The P 7 is a great bass, has the Fender tones on steroids. The Alder body gives it tremendous resonance. Electronics are amazing. Dinged it one star for craftsmanship which can be a problem. The input jack bears watching and must be tightened frequently. Some complain of sharp frets, this is bc of the rounded fretboard so it's more noticeable. I had to return two M 2s because of production issues, the third is a real charm. Buy from GC in case yours has problems, easy returns. That said, my P and V 7 are well made except for the jack. Having said this, I highly recommend, you won't find find the sound, playability, etc. on anything until 1500 bucks. As heavy as they are, they are well balanced for standing, Sires customer service is very responsive as well.

  • If you're thinking about buying one of these...do it

I rarely do these reviews, but I've been so blown away by this bass I had to. It feels amazing. The electronics are great and the preamp provides a lot of tonal control. The neck is next level. The rolled feet edges and the feel of the neck make this bass feel like it's worth a lotttt more than it's price. It's so good I already listed my other bass so I can buy another Sire!

I really like the weight and feel of this bass. Love the Active/Passive switch. Whether you are experienced or not so experienced, this is a great bass to get.

It had a great sound and look but it has the expected quality control issues associated with a mass produced made in Indonesia instrument. Sharp frets and scuff marks on the sides of the fretboard and in the truss rod hole.

  • This bass is awesome!

How much does the average P7 weigh?

How much does the average P7 weigh?

All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbs.

Is this a string through body? Or is it a string through bridge? Because the photos in the listing show both.
