Fun little bass!

I plan to use this for gigs and save my back from an old peavey P I traded for it. 5/5 for the value, fit, comfort level...3.5/5 overall based on all other basses out there, but hey, it's cheap and comfy. No fret sprouts, smooth neck. Needs set up, oiled neck, new strings as usual. Right out of the box, pretty darn good. Weekend warrior for 25+ years. Now I feel completely comfortable playing bass on a gig. Easily upgradable.
This little bass packs a punch!

A great bargain and a fun bass to play. An especially good way to transition from playing guitar to bass. A lot easier to play than a full-scale bass and WAY easier on the fingers. The electronics are good and I love the Dakota Red color. I also bought the black one. I keep one in my basement music room and one upstairs to play. The only thing that was negative were lots of fairly sharp fret ends, some sharp enough to cut you (I got a cut that actually bled from one of the fret ends). Since I know how to fix that problem it wasn't a big deal, but for some it might mean the extra expense of taking it to a luthier to get that corrected. But, considering the price of this very nice Squier mini-bass, the cost of a luthier is no prohibitive. Highly recommended for beginners to playing bass!

I bought this in 2022, when i decided that, after 6 decades of playing guitar, it was time to learn how to play bass. I bought this one based on a brand I liked (Squier) and a price i really liked. The fit & finish were flawless, the feel of the neck, weight of the instrument, and the electronics were excellent. Three years later, even after being kept in my basement music room that is prone to an extreme range of temperature and humidity, it still still plays and sounds great. No fret sprout or other issues. And, for me, it was a perfect model for learning to play bass. Highly recommended! As always, the experience buying from Sweetwater was very positive in every way!

Needed a smaller size bass for my friend. But even when I play it it plays like a dream. It should not sound this good or play this good for such a low price.

What make and type of strings come with the bass? Are they quality strings?
The Squier Mini Precision Bass in Dakota Red comes equipped with factory-installed nickel-plated steel roundwound strings, typically in gauges ranging from .040 to .095. These lighter-gauge strings are well-suited to the bass's short 28.6" scale length, offering ease of play for beginners and players with smaller hands. empiremusic.com While the stock strings are adequate for entry-level practice and casual playing, they may not deliver the tonal richness or durability that more experienced bassists seek. As such, many players opt to upgrade to higher-quality strings to enhance tone, sustain, and overall feel.submitted5 months ago

I'm 5'2 and I'm looking for a beginner bass guitar would this be good?
Yes, it would be. This is referred to as a 'short scale' ------- a 30". We have many. This isn't the only one to suit you. We have many. This is however, a Fender. Have fun.submitted2 years ago
