Sterling by Music Man Mariposa Electric Guitar Daphne Blue

Description
Designed in collaboration with Omar Rodríguez-López of The Mars Volta and At the Drive-In, the Mariposa electric guitar is a true stunner for both its unique esthetics and wealth of premium features. Its eye-catching body shape and pickguard provide visual flair, while a roasted maple neck, locking tuners and two humbucking pickups with separate volume controls deliver a plethora of versatile tones for any style.
Roasted Maple Neck Provides Exceptional Playability
The Mariposa's roasted maple neck offers increased stability and enhanced tone. The roasting process chemically modifies the maple to reduce moisture and prevent warping, resulting in a neck that stays straight and resonant. Combined with a comfortable slim—profile, 22 frets and a 25.5" scale length, the roasted maple neck provides a familiar feel for effortless playability.
Two Humbucking Pickups Shape Your Sound
A bridge pickup provides tight, articulate tones with compressed highs for rhythm playing, while a neck pickup delivers warm, rounded sounds with enhanced lows for soloing. With a three-way switch, you can select the bridge pickup, neck pickup or blend both pickups together. Two separate volume controls allow you to fine-tune the output of each pickup and find the perfect balance of brightness and warmth.
Vintage-Style Tremolo Adds Expressiveness
A vintage-style tremolo bridge provides subtle pitch modulation to enhance musical expression. Six individually adjustable saddles let you customize the intonation and action to your preferences. Combined with the Mariposa's locking tuners, the tremolo bridge enables classic guitar warbles and shimmers without compromising tuning stability.
Premium Appointments and Stylish Aesthetics
From its elegant finish to pearloid block inlays, the Mariposa exudes stylish flair. A contoured body shape crafted from nyatoh provides enhanced resonance, while a pickguard protects the body from scratches and dings. Overall, the Mariposa delivers professional-grade specs, stunning esthetics and an inspiring playing experience for guitarists of all levels.

Amazing guitar, better than Fender Player in everyway

I traded my Squire Vintage Vibe 50s Strat for a Mariposa by Sterling, and it has been the best decision ever. Also owned a Fender Strat HSS Standard MIM and sold that one as well after owning the Mariposa. This thing delivers in terms of build quality (as good as MIM Strat, way better than Squire Vintage Vibe) and playability (Nice roasted maple unpainted fingerboard and stain neck finish.) The Sterling Mariposa tremolo design is one step above both Squire and Fender's outdated 6-screw tremolo design, very easy to service and adjust. Humbukcler produces loud, hum-free tones, more rounded and mid-low heavy tones as opposed to the single coil on the Squire and Fender. You'll not be able to get the glassy tone of the single coil, so if that's what you want you'll want to look else where. There are no tone adjustments, just two volume knobs; it works perfectly and is still able to produce very distinctive sounds with the 3-way switch set to the middle position and volume is mixed. The locking tuners make the guitar stay in tune forever! I set out to find the perfect strat but ended up with a Mariposa by Sterling, and I'm a total believer. Try it and you'll not want to put it down while your strat style guitars are collecting dust on the stand.

This guitar was not on my radar until I plugged it in and played it! I play guitar at church, all the modern stuff, I've been playing guitar for 28 years. The feel of the neck, the comfortable contoured body, and sound of the pickups, I can't put this thing down! Play through a Line 6 Pod Go direct to the sound system.
Great Guitar!

Great guitar, very comfortable neck, stable trem system and unique humbucker pickups. The bridge pickup sounds like most neck pups, the bridge pup is warm, almost dark but very musical.
I bought this guitar and recommend it!

Love this guitars style! Very unique with retro vibes from the cool body shape. May I be so bold to say, I think its cooler than the St Vincent. Pickups are actually clear and more articulate than the "muddy" sound of most import humbuckers, Nice! But changing the cheap pots to higher value CTS ones should really help open up the pickups even more! Also, I'm surprised that Musicman didn't add a slight cutaway on the back for your hand to access the higher frets more easily. Overall, this guitar is just a great instrument! Especially, if you want something that stands out visually.....

what is the weight of this guitar?
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry but I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 8.5 lbs.submitted2 years ago

If I buy one of these could you send me the darkest of the rosewood fretboards you can find? I want it nearly black like ebony. Is that possible?
Unfortunately, no.
