Great for bassists who primarily stay in the low end frequencies as the highs aren't as crisp as something with p/j pickups yet still nice. Almost punches as hard as actives without the annoying battery. Mine plays like butter out of the box. Honestly shocked by the quality for the price.

  • Would recommend for beginners!

For some reason, I thought the RAY2 was made in Indonesia. However, it is made in China. That said, after the required and proper setup (I prefer to use the Fender specs), she seems to play pretty well. Only the G-string required an intonation adjustment; the three other strings were spot-on. Be advised that the neck is constructed of two pieces, and there was no fret sprouting on my guitar. The neck adjustment is located at the base and does not require removal to adjust. I prefer a very slight backbow to my neck, which was easily accomplished with the provided tool.  The strings are your standard roundwounds, and with the provided pickup, they produce a bright tonality. I will be swapping the pickup out, though, with the Seymour Duncan brand. This is a passive bass, and no strap was included.
