The TAMA Soft Sound Ring is made of 6mm thick foam rubber. This drum accessory reduces the volume of an acoustic drum kit while retaining the natural tone of the shell. Designed with an open center hole, the Soft Sound Ring maintains the natural feel of playing an acoustic drum kit. The Soft Sound Rings are available from 8” to 16” diameter in size.

    I use these dampening rings with brushes for light rock and jazz. Low volume playing. Just enough opening in rings to make it work. Still get the natural tone out of the drums at a much lower volume. Can use sticks, strike rubber ring and get even lower tone. Wife's happy, I'm happy. Little bit expensive but worth it.
