Takamine

collapse expand iconDescription

The GD51 is a classy dreadnought-style guitar that features deluxe cosmetic appointments, solid-top construction and a warm, resonant sound that will bring out the best in your music.

Combining a solid spruce top with black walnut back and sides, the GD51 pumps out all the big, bold tone players expect from a dreadnought. The slim mahogany neck and 12-radius bound laurel fingerboard provide great feel and playability, while the split-saddle design of the rosewood bridge provides superior intonation for sweeter-sounding chords and single-note runs.

Other great features include a synthetic bone nut and bridge saddle, rosewood headcap, abalone rosette and mother-of-pearl dot inlays, gold die-cast tuners and a beautiful gloss finish. Case sold separately.

Love the playability of takamine guitars, but at some point they were bought out by ESP who discontinued support and products used to keep up these guitars. So anything happens...Go pound sand.

  • Very pleasant surprise

A lot of reviews say things like "for the money" this product can't be beat. I would go as far as to say that this guitar would be a bargain at twice the price. Really love the sustain and clarity, not to mention the fact that it's just beautiful in sunburst. Love it!

I bought this as used and excellent condition. I got a fair price on it. It was going to be a part time guitar. I wanted something that looked and sounded different than my Martin. The burst finish is very attractive and well done. It's well made, although the pick guard is installed crooked. It's easy to play with no sharp fret ends. The nice gold no name tuners work very well. However, even though I didn't have high expectations for it, I was still disappointed with the sound. It's not a loud guitar as stated, not for a dreadnought. The tone is mediocre, with a subdued low end and shrill highs. The B string is really bad. I put new Martin strings on before I even played it for ten or twelve hours. There is a lot of fret buzz, especially with a capo. I didn't want to spend on a full setup for this particular instrument. I've owned other guitars in this price range, and this one didn't measure up. I returned it and got a used Yamaha for the same price. Now I'm happy. You can try one, your results may vary, but I know for a fact there are better guitars out there for less money.

This is a beautiful guitar and the tone is very nice. This guitar is very nice for someone that is on a budget and still wants a middle of the road acoustic guitar. Very nice, for guitar lessons for a student.
