American Hickory dowels have to meet very strict quality characteristics to become a Vater drum stick. Vater only uses dowels that have a specific moisture content, straightness and grain structure, to produce a higher quality drum stick.

These Vater American Hickory Los Angeles 5A drum sticks are formed from hickory—the most popular drumstick material. Hickory is dense and strong so it is resistant to chipping and breaking. Stronger than maple, it also absorbs a lot of shock. As a result, these sticks lessen wrist and hand fatigue while playing.

Vater guarantees their drumsticks to be straighter, more consistent and of higher quality than all other leading drum stick manufacturers. 100% of Vater’s drum sticks are manufactured in the U.S.A. All Vater drum sticks are tone and weight matched by computer analysis.

    I've been a loyal Vater user for over 15 years (5A Los Angeles) and never had a problem with durability however, lately THE TIPS KEEP POPPING OFF! I've lost the tips on 5 sticks over the last few weeks on brand new sticks. I'm not a basher and I've never had this problem even on worn sticks that are about to break.

    Grab 4 pairs, on my way to record, forgot to order my usual sticks. Good weight , balance and grip. Lost a tip on one broke 2 pairs after about 3hours of play. Definitely worth buying again #sweepstakes
