    I like the weight and even the sound the maple sticks produce - sound nice on the rim, too. I've weighed drumsticks in a bin at the store and the Vic Firth "Buddy Rich," as an example, ranged from 3.4 oz. - 4.1 oz. - THAT'S HUGE! If you're comfortable with a 3.4 oz. pair of sticks, you may not be using a 4+ oz. pair. All these little things can make a big difference in your playing! The maple, naturally lighter than hickory, holds up surprising well and is a good choice for Gospel music to rock. I only ordered the nylon tips because these are for practice at home and I'm tired of tossing out sticks (hickory and maple) just because the tips get worn. For live playing or studio I'd almost always use wood tips.
