Vintage Acoustics In A Modern Recreation
The CineMag transformer is a high-quality American made transformer that is key in giving this mic the full, rich low-end and smooth, buttery top-end that mimics the revered 84’ small diaphragm condenser sound. The capsule has been carefully engineered by an Australian supplier to reproduce classic componentry that helps to deliver excellent vintage-style sonic character. The polystyrene and WIMA capacitors and Fairchild FET help to give this mic a balanced sound that does great with many different types of instruments such as acoustic guitar, strings, woodwinds, bass, piano and drums, as well as doing excellent with vocals this mic is extremely versatile.
Compact Size With A Big Sound
The WA-84 has a cardioid directional pattern and the transformer has a large core which gives a powerful sound despite its small size. I had several vintage kmi 84s and ended up selling them and replacing them with the WA-84. This is a killer mic. I use one on the hi hat of my drum kit and a pair on the Leslie for my B3. They also sound really great on acoustic guitars. They're clear and meaty. I highly recommend!
Small mics with a large sound!

The WA-84 is a small diaphragm condenser microphone. They come in a small body like their vintage counterparts, but they have a large sound. With their polar cardioide and their pad -10dB, you can use this mics in any instrument. They are ideal for drums overhead because they capture the cymbals with in a lively and warm manner. I love how they sound in the hi-hat, acoustic guitar, acoustic piano, violin, violas, and cellos. When using these mics with acoustic instruments in the studio, I combine them with room mics (in my case, I use the WA-47JRs or WA-87s). This is a perfect combination to capture the natural sound from those instruments. The results are atonishing. We are loving our WA-84s.
