The CG122 compliments the CG102 that I've had for a while now. Bought it based on how well I liked the sound and feel of the CG102 and have not been disappointed..
Unbelievably Satisfying Guitar

I returned a Corboba C1 Protege Matiz within an hour of opening the box. Terrible guitar with tons of quality control flaws. For the exact same price I ordered this Yamaha after doing a lot of research but was still skeptical. This needed zero setup and was magical from the first strum.

This guitar looks and feels awesome. I leave it out in my studio and find myself picking it up everytime I look at it. It plays like butter and is perfect for practicing or recording chill music. Always stays in tune can't really ask for much more at this price point.

My new Yamaha CG122 Classical Guitar with the natural finish and cedar top is a true gem. I'm really enjoying the guitar and would definitely recommend this particular model. I've been playing the G-50 A for a few years and even though they look exactly the same the modern construction and tone is a step up in quality. For referencing purposes, I am a weekend player who practices daily and likes a full range of various music types and styles, but prefer the playability of a nylon string guitar.

This is an amazing guitar with a great sound and all the quality you would expect from Yamaha. I absolutely love it and think it is well worth the price.
The Cedar Version Is Excellent!

Just an outstanding guitar. Tone is just as good as higher priced versions, and the action has been lowered from previous versions. BUT-I would strongly suggest getting the CG122MCH/Red Cedar Top in Matte Finish. It sounded better than the gloss versions, and WAY better than any of the spruce tops of this series! Also, you can spend more for different types of laminate sides, but I wouldn't. This is the best new guitar I have bought for the price, and a nice change from steel string acoustics. I bonded with this guitar from the start and just found music pouring out of it immediately. May upgrade to bone nut and saddle, but the tone already floors me. I checked out several other classical guitars, and this one was better than some $500 models. I liked it more than the popular Cordoba C5, but again, make sure to get a new one in Red Cedar and a Matte finish.

This looks like a Yamaha CG122MCH but is listed as just CG122 (no MCH or MSH in the part number). Can anyone confirm if it is the MCH / MSH model number, corresponding to the cedar or spruce top version?

What's the matching case for this guitar Yamaha CG122? Please recommend some case brands/models. Thanks.
This guitar would be compatible with any standard classical case. The Musician's Gear Deluxe Classical Guitar Case would be a good choice.submitted6 years ago
