Yamaha

collapse expand iconDescription

Yamaha is proud to introduce the FSX800C. This innovative small-body acoustic-electric guitar provides musicians an instrument ideal for live performance and recording. Derived from the acclaimed FS800, the FSX800C adds a cutaway body and Yamaha's System 66 electronics for a robust plugged-in sound. The solid Sitka spruce top paired with nato back and sides produces a clear, balanced tone with rich overtones. Yamaha's newly developed scalloped bracing optimizes resonance and projection.

System 66 Pickup Provides Studio-Quality Sound

The FSX800C features Yamaha's proprietary under-saddle piezo pickup and 3-band EQ preamp. Musicians can shape their tone with control over bass, middle and treble frequencies in addition to a mid-range frequency selector. Powered by AA batteries, the preamp provides a stable power supply for consistent sound quality gig after gig. The tuner ensures accurate intonation for optimal playability and tone.

Comfortable Body For All Players

The FSX800C has a slimmer body depth compared to the FG series, offering increased comfort and playability for musicians of all sizes. The compact body minimizes feedback, ideal for live performance, while retaining full, balanced tone. The cutaway provides access to higher frets for advanced techniques. This sleek acoustic-electric guitar is a versatile instrument suited for guitarists of any skill level.

Premium Materials and Traditional Style

The FSX800C combines the best in traditional craftsmanship with modern enhancements. The solid Sitka spruce top and nato back and sides provide a clear, balanced tone with rich overtones. The natural satin finish allows the wood grains of the tonewoods to shine through, showcasing the instrument's all-natural materials. Chrome tuners, a rosewood fretboard and bridge and an elegant soundhole rosette complete the vintage-inspired style.

Best sounding and playable guitar in that price range.

I went with my daughter to Guitar Center to look for an electric acoustic guitar with a budget limitation of $300. I consider myself an average player that has played for over 20 years on and off in bands and now just for fun at home. We tried out 6 different guitar models and brands in that price range and we both arrived to the same conclusion - the Yamaha FSX800c is the winner! My daughter liked the look of a lot of other guitars, Luna, Ibanez, Fender but none of them sounded as rich and balanced and was so easy to play as the Yamaha electric acoustic guitar. I own a very nice PRS guitar that was $500 more expansive but I have to admit that this Yamaha sounds and is exceptional easy to play. The guitar we ended up buying was from the wall and we compared to one out of the box which had even a nicer sunburst look but for some reason the guitar we took from the wall sounded just perfect and stays in tune very well!

Good acoustically.

Lacks a good electronic reproduction so if thats what you need then this is not for you unless you use chorus. It is light and easy to play so again its a good acoustical guitar especially in this price range. I compared it to a Taylor Baby e and Martins small guitar e. This Yamaha has fuller sound.

The guitar has been a good friend of mine. I like the sound of it. I like the neck, the pick up is excellent. It stays in tune very well. Play well down the lower end than the higher end of the neck all good things I would recommend anyone to buy one of these.

  • If you are a beginner, don't look around, BUY this one.

I'm a beginner, and this beautiful guitar makes me sound like a professional. The team at the store showed me this Yamaha with the option to plug in to an amp, they tuned it for me and made sure I had everything I needed to start playing. I will be forever grateful for this purchase.

  • Great experience in-store and awesome guitar

This is a shout-out to the great team at the New London, CT store. Sam and Jesse and the whole crew. I'm a novice player and was not sure what I was looking for and this guitar was pointed out to me. We played a whole bunch and for my budget - this sounded great and even better than some of the more expensive guitars on sale. The ruby red color is terrific as is the sunburst color, and the sound is full and rich. She's been keeping a tune for me and is so fun to pick up and play. No compromise on the sound depth even for a small body guitar. I highly recommend this Yamaha and the New London CT store!

The Yamaha FSX800C and the Taylor GS Mini-e are both small-body acoustic-electric guitars, but they serve slightly different purposes and suit different types of players. The Yamaha FSX800C features a full-size 25" scale length and a concert-style body with a cutaway, making it ideal for players who want full fret access and a traditional acoustic feel. It has a solid Sitka spruce top and laminated nato or okoume back and sides, producing a clear, balanced tone with good projection. The built-in System 66 preamp includes a 3-band EQ and tuner, offering solid control for live performance or recording. In contrast, the Taylor GS Mini-e is more compact with a shorter 23.5" scale length, making it exceptionally easy to play and very portable — perfect as a travel or couch guitar. Despite its small size, it delivers a surprisingly full, warm tone thanks to its solid top (available in spruce, mahogany, or koa) and Taylor’s refined build quality. Its ES-B electronics are simpler, with just volume, tone, and a tuner, but they offer a very natural amplified sound with minimal fuss. If you prioritize comfort, portability, and premium tone in a small package — and you’re okay with spending more — the Taylor GS Mini-e is hard to beat. If you're looking for a more traditional acoustic feel, full-scale playability, and a lower price point with more onboard tone-shaping control, the Yamaha FSX800C is a very strong contender.

I'm in search of a durable hard shell case for my Yamaha FSX800C Small-Body Acoustic Guitar. As I travel frequently, I need a snug, secure fit that will prevent the guitar from slamming against the interior walls during transit, especially when it's handled by airport staff. The case needs to provide maximum protection, with little to no wiggle room for the guitar. Can you please recommend any high-quality, well-fitting hard shell cases that would work well for this particular model? I want to ensure my guitar stays safe and undamaged, even during flights. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the guitars play ability.

what do you hook the guitar strap onto at the upper portion of the guitar? There is no attachment. Can one be put on, either on the body or in there area near the tuning pegs?

Typically a string goes between the tuning keys and the nut which ties to the strap. But you can also have a pin attached to the guitar after purchase as well.
