Zildjian

collapse expand iconDescription

This limited-edition Zildjian 400th Anniversary Alchemy acorn tip drum stick design celebrates the origin of the secret family alloy. In 1618, Avedis I, an Armenian alchemist living in Constantinople, discovered a secret process for treating alloys and applied it to the art of making cymbals of extraordinary clarity and sustain. This proprietary mix of copper, tin and silver is still used in Zildjian cymbals today. The alchemy symbols used in the design represent each of the metals in this secret alloy, arranged in the shape of a cymbal.

I like the sticks more than I thought I would

Bought these for the color as I have a matching purple drum set. Out of the three pairs I bought, one of the pairs is not "pitch-paired", which is only noticeable on the practice pad. I ended up liking the sticks more than I thought. The balance is good and the tip has a good balance between definition and tone between the cymbals and drums. I was surprised to enjoy the lacquer/finish, as it adds a little grip to the stick, as long as your hands don't get too sweaty, which mine rarely do. A couple gigs of shanking the hi-hat, though, and it obviously starts to wear off and lose the paint around the should. Be aware, this can leave purple marks on your cymbals and drum heads.

They are pretty decent drum sticks. I would probably consider buying them again. Nice weight & feel to them. The quality seems nice as well. I tend to trust Zildjian brand products. I like the color too, something different. I've had them about a month & they're holding up, can't complain.
