How To Prevent Your Cymbals From Cracking

How To Clean Your Cymbals The Right Way

Description
The S Family Medium Thin Crash, Zildjian's latest innovative cymbal is designed for balanced performance. After intensive research, Zildjian crafted this cymbal to produce a modern voice that responds quickly with the lightest touch and works for any genre. With a full, crashing sound and shimmering sustain, this cymbal is versatile and expressive.
Sensitive and Responsive for Expressive Playing
The S Family Medium Thin Crash is incredibly sensitive and responsive, reacting instantly to produce a bright, expressive tone. Even the lightest tap elicits a full, crashing sound from this cymbal. Its responsive nature allows for expressive accents and dynamic play. For musicians looking to explore creative cymbal techniques, the S Family Medium Thin Crash is ideal.
Full Crash Sound with Shimmering Sustain
This crash cymbal delivers a satisfyingly full crash with a beautiful, shimmering sustain. The full crash cuts through the mix while the shimmering sustain provides musicality. The sustain decays gradually, allowing the crash tone to ring through. This combination of crash and sustain gives the S Family Medium Thin Crash a balanced and versatile voice for any style.
Versatile and Stackable
With its balanced tone and medium thin weight, the S Family Medium Thin Crash works for any musical application from rock to jazz to electronic music. It also functions well as a stacker cymbal when paired with other cymbals. By stacking multiple cymbals, drummers can create unique tones not possible from a single cymbal. The S Family Medium Thin Crash's versatile, expressive voice makes it an ideal stacker.
Modern, Innovative Design
Zildjian designed the S Family Medium Thin Crash over two years to produce a modern, innovative cymbal. Through intensive research, Zildjian crafted this cymbal to have a balanced frequency response and bright, expressive tone suitable for any style. The result is a forward-thinking cymbal with a musical voice drummers will love.

I'm a new drummer and got a 6 piece Ludwig kit for my 60th BD! It came with the I series hats, crash and ride, 14/16/20. I have absolutely had a blast, but after replacing all the drum heads and learning to tune them, I completely obsessed over how to upgrade the cymbals. I fell in love with the K Sweets and K Custom Darks but just couldn't see spending $1K+ on a pack. I also fell in love with the A customs but again, as a new drummer just had a hard time justifying spending $800+ on that pack. I decided to keep the I series hats and ride, and I settled on the S Family Thin crashes; 16/18/20 and couldn't be happier with the purchase! The S Thins have a remarkably bright and full musicality about them with a nice sustain. It's exactly the sound I was hoping to have based on my obsessive review of all the best. The 20" to me sounds really awesome and somewhat dry and maybe a little dark. Again, I'm a new drummer so I'm not used to all the lingo. I considered the S Medium Thins (as well as all the As and Ks) and tested out every cymbal I could get a stick on which was a lot! For less than $500 I now have 3 awesome S Thin crashes to get me through the next levels of my drumming maturity. They really work well with my I series hats and ride too! REALLY nice upgrade! 60 ain't so bad!!!
S Family is a winner!

The 16" and 18" S Med-Thins are great cymbals for anyone looking to upgrade from the lower spectrum of Zildjian cymbals and not have to drop a fortune while doing so. I would even say they set a bar of their own. To me the B12 is a really good composition for quality, tonality and visually. I think it would be interesting to hear how a set of traditional or non-brilliant finished might sound too. Great job Zildjian!
